VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 9 *

Register to vote online by August 22!

This year, three candidates are running to be the Ward 1 Alder Democratic nominee in the primary on September 9. You must register to vote in Connecticut as a Democrat before August 22 online or before September 8 in person to be eligible to vote in the primary.

You can be registered in CT and in your home state at the same time. For my New York friends, you can even vote in the primary in CT and the general election back home. Just only vote in one place per election. Scroll below for instructions!

More so now than ever, meaningful change starts at the local level. To students in particular, I encourage you to vote in the city where you live the majority of the year and where there are crucial elections in 2025. Your voice matters in New Haven!

Scroll down to find out if you live in Ward 1, how to register, and important dates.

Do I live in Ward 1?

Ward 1 includes Old Campus, eight residential colleges (Jonathan Edwards, Branford, Saybrook, Pierson, Davenport, Trumbull, Berkeley, and Hopper), and a number of off campus apartment buildings. If you’re not sure whether your off campus address is in Ward 1 or not, click here.

How to register in CT, and stay registered in another state:

If you will be in New Haven before August 22nd, I encourage you to register to vote in person. If not, register to vote online here.

When filling out the online form, you must give the last 4 digits of your social (even though it is not a required question in the system). Once you finsih, print out the pdf, and sign, date and mail it to 200 Orange St # 201, New Haven, CT 06510. If you don’t sign and mail the doc, you won’t be registered.

You can be registered in Connecticut at your home state at the same time, so long as you only vote in one place per election. If you wish to stay registered in another state, write “None” for previous voting address.
